Laser Pigmentation Removal: Sun Spots, Age Spots, Birthmarks, and More

At Artistry Medical Aesthetics, I specialize in safe and effective laser pigmentation removal to help you achieve clear, even-toned, and radiant skin. Whether you’re dealing with sun spots, age spots, or birthmarks, my advanced Stellar M22™ laser technology delivers targeted treatment that breaks up unwanted pigment without harming surrounding healthy tissue.

Conditions I Treat with Laser Pigmentation Removal

1. Lentigines – Sun Spots and Age Spots

Lentigines, commonly known as sun spots or age spots, are flat, sharply defined brown or black spots that develop in areas with the most sun exposure—such as the face, forearms, shoulders, and back of hands. My laser treatments use precise light energy to break down excess pigment and restore a smoother, more even skin tone.

2. Keratosis – Benign Age-Related Growths

Seborrheic keratoses, sometimes referred to as “senile warts,” are slightly raised, rough-textured, and may darken over time. Although benign, they can be removed for cosmetic reasons. Laser pigmentation removal provides a comfortable treatment option with minimal downtime.

3. Hyperpigmentation and Trauma Response

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) often occurs after trauma, acne, or other skin conditions, leaving behind darkened patches. This is especially common in darker skin types. My customized treatment plan can help speed up the healing process and fade discoloration over a series of sessions.

4. Birthmarks – Café-au-Lait, Becker Nevus, and Nevus of Ota/Ito

My advanced laser technology can target a variety of birthmarks, including café-au-lait spots, Becker nevus (following laser hair removal if needed), and dermal birthmarks like Nevus of Ota/Ito. These treatments require expertise and precision, and I have the years of experience needed to provide beautiful results safely.

5. Hemosiderin Staining

Hemosiderin staining can develop after sclerotherapy or vein procedures, leaving rust-colored patches on the skin. If the pigment does not resolve after six months, IPL treatment with Stellar M22 can significantly improve the appearance, often in just a few sessions.

Preparing for Laser Pigmentation Removal

Proper preparation is essential for optimal results. To ensure your skin is ready:

  • Shave the treatment area the day before

  • Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 4–6 weeks prior

  • Skip self-tanners and spray tans

  • Discontinue photosensitive medications and topicals as directed

  • Do not undergo treatment with any active infections

I will review your medical history during a personal consultation to confirm you’re a candidate and answer any questions.

Scheduling and Treatment Plan

Most clients see outstanding results after a series of sessions. Treatments are typically spaced 3 to 6 weeks apart, depending on the depth and type of pigmentation. Deeper pigmentation may require a longer interval between sessions to allow your skin to fully recover.

If you’re also considering injectable treatments like Botox or dermal fillers, I recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after Botox and 4 weeks after filler before beginning laser treatment.
