While laser treatments can control hyperpigmentation, it cannot completely prevent future melasma since hormonal changes often play a role.
Proper preparation helps ensure safe and effective hair removal:
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
No waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis for 4–6 weeks before treatment. You may remove unwanted hair by shaving prior to treatment.
Limit sun exposure and use SPF on the treated area for 4–6 weeks prior.
No self-tanners, spray tans, or tanning beds for 4–6 weeks prior. Your skin must return to its natural color prior to treatment.
